Woodpeckers

 

There's no shortage of woodpeckers in the forest at the moment. Most common are the great spotted woodpeckers (below) and then the green woodpeckers (above). Black woodpeckers can also be seen here, but they tend to be more elusive. Woodpeckers have a distinctive call sign making them easy to locate.

 

 

Getting close to them however is not so easy, hence these rather grainy out of focus shots. The green woodpecker takes flight (below).
