Kite
A kite, probably a red kite, soars overhead (a couple of weeks ago). Buzzards are quite common in the Black Forest but I have only seen kites on a few occasions. Sadly once again, despite the auto-focus locking onto the bird, the shutter failed to release. After attempting a number of shots I was forced to switch to manual focus. Manual focus on this Nikon is also rubbish as even set at infinity the horizon is not in focus, but at least I was able to get a photo, even if it was out of focus.
This is a problem I have mentioned frequently on my blogs when pointing the camera skywards, usually at birds. The auto-focus locks onto the subject but the shutter will not release. It is not just a Nikon problem as I have discussed the issue with a Canon photographer who experienced the same problem. I wonder if by tilting the camera skywards it affects some mechanism in the camera that prevents the shutter release, or is my camera simply setup incorrectly?
Answers on a postcard please.
