Storm front

 

During this evening a storm front moved in and will probably be with us over the next days. At least the tadpoles will get their much needed water, the great tits however will have to put off feeding their chicks for a while. Hopefully a few gaps in the weather will allow for some hasty rations to be collected. I heard that tits feed mostly in trees and not on the ground and rely on feeding caterpillars to their young. This has been a problem this spring for many species in Europe as the cold weather and rain washes caterpillars off the tree leaves and onto the ground where tits for example rarely venture.
